Meet Evelyn, Georgie & Lou Ambassador!
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a retired Police Lieutenant. I retired after 20 years in Law Enforcement at the Queens District Attorney’s Office in March 2020. During Covid I obtained my Real Estate License and am an agent at Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty specializing in the North Shore of Long Island. My husband is an NYPD Segeant, he will be retiring in the next 2-3 years. I have 2 daughters Mia and Gabriella that are 9 and 10 years old. I primarily play Pickleball at LifeTime Athletic in Syosset. I am also in the first Women’s Interclub League in Long Island formed by Pop Up Picklebal. My team is called Dink for the Blue is an all law enforcement team.
How did you get into Pickleball? Talk us through your first time on the court.
I would always see signs at LifeTime about Pickleball and see people playing as I passed by. While on vacation last summer, the resort we stayed at had Pickleball courts. I tried it out and I’ve been hooked ever since. When I got back to Long Island I immediately started playing at LifeTime 3 times then 5 times a week. I used to play tennis and the adjustment to a paddle was a little tricky at first but I think it helps with many Pickleball shots and is an easy transition overall.
What is your favorite part of playing Pickleball? Why do you love the sport?
I love everything about Pickleball. I really love the social aspect of it and all the new friends I have made. You usually see the same people all over at different venues playing. I also love that no two games are the same and the high paced nature of the sport.
Tell us about one of the best games you ever played. Did you dish up an epic serve? Or hit an unforgettable unreturned shot?
One of the best games I ever played had several firefights at the kitchen line, an ATP and lots of long rallys! We were playing a team that we are Evelyn matched with and the score kept going back and forth with my partner and I winning 14-12.
Why did you want to team up with Georgie & Lou?
When I first saw a Georgie and Lou bag online, I was immediately drawn to the style of it. My first bag was the Dakota which is black with a blue stripe diagonally across the front of the bag. It is the perfect setup for a Pickleball bag and fits everything I need when I head out to play. When I found out about how the company started and that it is a Women owned business, I knew I wanted to support the brand.
What is one of your favorite features of the Georgie & Lou Pickleball bag?
One of my favorite features of the bag is the front pocket which fits up to two paddles! It is so convenient and I love how it looks.
One thing you always bring to the Pickleball court?
I have several essentials I always include in my bag. Besides paddles and indoor/outdoor balls, I always keep my Safety glasses, a visor, sunscreen and hair ties in my bag sonI am always ready to head out to a court and play.
